Sexter.io is an interactive story experience for adults (18+). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For privacy questions, contact contact@sexter.io.
We collect what we need to run the service: • Access code — a randomly generated numeric code that identifies your account. There is no password. • Optional recovery email — only if you add one in account settings. Used to recover your access code and, if you opt in, for product emails (for example creator review decisions). Recovery emails always send when you request them. Product emails are off by default. • Profile bits you choose — display name and optional avatar used where the product shows them (for example comments). • Game data — stories you play, progress, choices, chat messages, favorites, and related save state. • Activity stats — time online, time in stories, streaks, and last seen. • Login IPs — stored so we can spot abuse and enforce bans. • First-party analytics — page path, anonymous visitor id, optional referrer, and (when logged in) your user id, used for admin traffic stats. Not sold to advertisers. • Product analytics (PostHog) — page paths, button/form interactions, custom product events (for example signup, library play, upgrade modal, Creator Studio navigation), anonymous error reports when the browser or server hits an exception (including story-play failures), and (when logged in) your account id with non-sensitive traits such as patron tier. We do not use session replay. Used to understand how people use Sexter.io and catch breakages. Not sold to advertisers. • Technical data — browser and device signals needed for compatibility and security (including bot checks on registration). • Linked accounts (optional) — if you connect Patreon, SubscribeStar, or GitHub, we store the provider ids and tier/install info needed for patronage access or Creator Studio Git sync. • Creator content — stories, media uploads, wiki edits, and similar material you publish or submit while using creator tools.
Your data is used to: • Provide and operate the service (accounts, saves, chat, creator tools) • Protect the platform (rate limits, bot checks, blocks, abuse investigation) • Understand traffic with our own first-party analytics (admin overview) and PostHog product analytics • Send recovery or opted-in product email when applicable • Grant patron or Hall of Fame access when you link a supported membership We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for their advertising.
We use first-party cookies and browser storage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Essential / functional: • sexter_session — keeps you signed in • sexter_theme — light/dark preference • sexter_playtest — playtest link access when you open a draft share link • Short-lived OAuth state cookies when you start linking Patreon, SubscribeStar, or GitHub • Load-balancer stickiness may set a cookie so your browser stays on one server (needed for reliable page loads) First-party analytics: • sexter_vid — anonymous visitor id so we can count unique visits and page views on our admin overview. Stays on our servers. Not used for ads. Product analytics (PostHog): • PostHog may set first-party cookies / local storage via our site (events are proxied through Sexter.io) so we can measure product usage across visits. Not used for ads. Staff accounts may also use security cookies (for example 2FA / trusted device). Your browser may also keep local preferences (remembered access code if you choose, chat UI settings, wallpaper, and similar). Those stay on your device unless the feature syncs them as part of your save.
Some features talk to outside services when you use them: • Cloudflare Turnstile — bot protection on registration • PostHog — product analytics (EU Cloud by default). Processes event data described above under PostHog's terms when analytics is enabled • Patreon / SubscribeStar — only if you choose to link membership for tier access • GitHub — only if you connect Creator Studio Git sync • Email delivery — if you add a recovery email or opt into product emails Those providers process data under their own terms when you use the feature. Hosting and infrastructure providers may process connection data (such as IP) as part of running the site.
Your account, story progress, and creator content stay while you use the service. Page-view analytics and login IP history are kept for operations and abuse prevention. PostHog retains product analytics according to our PostHog project settings. To delete your account and associated personal data, contact contact@sexter.io. We aim to complete deletion requests within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records for security, legal, or abuse reasons.
If you are in the EU/EEA (or similar regimes), you can usually: • Ask what data we hold about you • Ask us to correct inaccurate data • Ask us to delete your data • Object to certain processing • Withdraw optional consents (for example product email opt-in, or unlinking Patreon / SubscribeStar / GitHub) Contact contact@sexter.io to exercise these rights.
Sexter.io is for people 18 and older. Adult content is part of the product. If you are under 18, do not use the service. See our Content Guidelines for house rules.
Access codes are stored hashed. Connections use HTTPS. We rate-limit sensitive actions and use bot checks on registration. We do not store payment card details on Sexter.io. Patronage billing stays with Patreon or SubscribeStar when you use those.
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows the latest revision. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
